There are a ton of things to do in the platform, but I feel it's so much built it can be difficult to navigate. You have to have a "degree in semrush" in order to actually fully utilize it. This is problematic when there are other tools like the ones by \[sensitive content hidden\] which are simpler. I feel there really needs to be a beginner UI and the various UI elements should be unlockable or in some way there should be a beginner version. > > **Inconvénients**: There's quite a few things. Their SEO optimization for articles is okay, but I find just prompting a free GPT instance to be about the same. Using paid GPT is considerably better. The article builder has an image suggestion tool that's absolutely bogus. It's generative AI image prompting bordering on 2019 quality and looks like it hasn't been iterated on since launch. Just unusable and even when you can create a halfway decent image it still looks like AI gen slop. Their cancelation policy is incredibly out-dated and violates FTC guidelines on a one-click cancellation. I've spoken to support about this and I get back a robotic response of "That's just what our policy is." They don't seem to get it's factually against the law. Here's the entire process: 1. You can't just go to your subscription and click cancel 2. You have submit a chat request 3. The chat then takes you to a form you have to fill out with your reason for canceling and VERIFY you want to cancel. 4. Then you are sent an eMail CONFIRMING your cancelation that you need to click on. 5. Further still I was told despite going through all these steps, "You didn't give clear intent of your desire to cancel." so I was billed for another month. I tried to clarify for the 4th time that it's not supposed to be this way and is in fact an FTC violation. No acknowledgement of that. Just robotic replies ignoring it. > > Overall, like I said they would benefit greatly from at least having a BEGINNER view or some kind of onboarding survey that directly puts you into a beginner view with just the tools available to handle whatever the new subscriber came to handle. Then it can expand out from there. The Pro plan gives a clear view of site health, keyword rankings and basic competitor visibility in one place. Site audits, keyword tracking and simple competitor checks are easy to run and interpret, which has been useful for a small B2B SaaS like us without a huge in-house SEO team. Once projects are set up, it’s straightforward to monitor how our SEO is performing over time and to spot issues early. > > **Inconvénients**: The platform is powerful, but the interface and pricing structure can feel complex if you’re not using it every day. There is a learning curve in understanding which features and limits you actually need, and how add-ons interact with the main subscription. We did experience confusion around add-ons (SERP Gap Analyzer and Local Pro) and how they affected our renewal. At first, the focus in support was on internal refund policies rather than on clearing up the underlying issue. However, after escalation Semrush ultimately removed the add-ons we didn’t need and issued full account credits for the associated charges, which I appreciate. I would still like to see clearer visibility and simpler management of add-ons in the UI for business customers. > > Functionally, Semrush has done what we needed: monitor technical site health, track rankings for key terms, and give a quick read on how we compare with competitors. For several years it has been a useful, if not cheap, part of our marketing stack and has helped guide our SEO and content priorities. We did have a difficult experience around add-ons and renewal, which was frustrating initially. That said, once the issue was fully understood and escalated, Semrush support resolved it by removing the add-ons and issuing full credits for the disputed charges. Overall, the product itself is strong and we continue to get value from the core Pro features.
