This software is a timesaver!

Sending out Donor receipts and year end statements is less time consuming. Having the proper IRS statement for charitable deductions is a critical step for Donors.

Easily tracks donations and produces tax receipts

I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking to try a new program or have never used software to record their givings.

Donation is a database program that manages donors and their donations to charities. I have found the program relatively easy to setup and train volunteers to use. It provides a professional look to tax receipts. Backups, corrections and updates are easily made.
Integration with other programs (mail merge) is a little more difficult and the search engine is very powerful but has a steep learning curve. The look of the interface is a little bland.
Our agency has been using Donations since its early days as freeware and we like it.

We have been using Donation since December 2009. As our new church treasurer, I was searching for ways to avoid hand-writing our tax receipts, which had taken our previous volunteers hours and hours each year. Donation is easy to learn (I've trained two other people in how to enter the Sunday's offering, both very novice computer users, and they've had no troubles), and we now have many pre-authorized donors and love the Excel import of our monthly donors. If we've ever had questions that we couldn't find out about with the excellent "help" files, Dan at Cooperstock is very responsive to any queries we've had, often answering within an hour, not days! Our annual tax receipting literally is now at a push of a button and waiting for the printer to finish! We can create envelope labels, box labels, mid-year donor statements, and mail merges for appeal letters, all with ease. I can run various analysis reports, to see trends in our donor patterns, who hasn't given this year, etc. I even got my Dad, a treasurer at his small church in Eastern Canada, to use it and he is a true fan as well! Just an outstanding program, easy to use, and the customer service is top notch.

Overall:
I have been using DONATION for at least 6 years, with a number of different ministries, after using several other donations/church membership packages. This is by far the simplest, most straight forward program for donation tracking/receipting since the days of the old DOS program "ChurchMouse".

Pros:
1. It is simple and uncomplicated, doing only what it is designed to do - track and receipt donations. It is not cluttered by the often confusing features of combination church management packages or accounting packages.
2. Superb support - an email to the developer often brings a response in less than one hour!
3. Excellent value for the price and very generous licensing. You can run multiple company/organization databases for the same low fee.
4. Very powerful SQL-query-based reporting for the experienced user, in addition to a large array of pre-configured reports. It is very easy to customize your Income Tax Receipts.
5. Import-export features: Excel, pdf, etc.
6. Too many other features to mention here - the review by Robert Vanderhill covers many of my points also.

Cons:
I haven't found any.

I have used this software for a number of years. It has steadily been improved and simplified.
A quick call or email to Dan, is solve quickly and simply. The reports that are generated from the single entry screen are exceptionally useful and flexible.
As a retired auditor as well as not for profit treasurer they are easy to use and provide all the info needed. The fact that one entry screen can provide all of this info has saved me many hours.
Included is a letter to donors that can be modified to suit all purposes but is probably it's one week spot.
It is still not intuitive to generate and use. In spite of this one weakness I do not hesitate to recommend it to all, especially at it's low cost.

Comments from our Volunteer on the Donations program: I sure have liked working with this program. The program that I used when I first started looking after Prayer Canada's donations was on a floppy disk. When the computers were upgraded, it would no longer work, as they didn't upgrade their program. We came up with another program that was not that easy to use. We looked around a lot for a program that was not too complicated and that was financially within Prayer Canada's means. It seemed next to impossible to come up with a good program that was easy to use, without being some kind of an accountant, but then someone recommended this program. When we tried it, we were able to figure out the things we needed quickly, and anytime there was something we couldn't understand, the techs were quick with a reply. I have nothing but positive comments to make on the Donations program re: Software4profits.cm. I began using the program in January 2012. I have found this program to be the most "user-friendly" program I have ever used. I did not learn to use a computer until after I retired 18 years ago. This program does all the things I need to keep track of all the donations made to the organization [church] that I am Financial Secretary for. At year end, I can print off labels for addresses which are all loaded in the program for all the donors as well receipts for income tax purposes. The donation program has everything you could possibly want in keeping accurate records for donations and donors. The program also has features to guard against making errors. This is good for me. If I am slow on finding my way I can always send an email to Mr.Cooperstock and I always get a "quick" response.

I AM VERY HAPPY TO WRITE A REVIEW FOR THIS SOFTWARE. I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS TYPE OF PRODUCT FOR SOME TIME. IT IS VERY EASY TO USE AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS, DAN COOPERSTOCK THE AUTHOR PROVIDES VERY RESPONSIVE SOLUTIONS. THE SOFTWARE HAS MANY TOOLS FOR MANAGING DONATION REPORTING BOTH TO DONORS AND GOVERNMENT. BEING ABLE TO TRACK SEVERAL DONATION CATEGORIES IS PARTICULARLY USEFUL FOR CHURCHES. ANOTHER USEFUL TOOL IS THE BANKING RECONCILIATION THAT MAKES MONTHLY BANK RECONCILIATION EASIER.

I HAVE BEING PROMOTING THIS S/W WHENEVER I TALK TO PEOPLE WITHIN ORGANIZATIONS WHO COULD USE IT. I PROMOTED IT TO OUR CHURCH DENOMINATION WHO IN TURN WERE MAKING CHURCH TREASURERS AWARE OF ITS AVAILABILITY.

IF YOU HAVE NEED OF THIS SOFTWARE--BUY IT!!. YOU WON'T BE SORRY!! I STILL HAVE NOT YET FOUND ANY CON'S.

We have used several accounting systems over the past 25 years....from things like Quicken, Quicken Books, Money Counts, and Membership Plus. Personally I prefer Donation over all of them because its simple and unencumbered. It is what it is. Fast....Reliable....And did I say Simple. I'm not an accountant I'm a pastor who once ran his own commercial business. This is the program for me.

I don't usually write reviews for programmes/products etc. but feel that Donation deserves a very strong recommendation. I am very thankful that I was fortunate enough to learn of its existence. It is a very manageable programme and quite easy to use. I did have questions when I first installed it but Mr. Cooperstock was always very prompt and helpful. I would certainly recommend Donation to anyone looking for a simple and comprehensive accounting programme.

It's a snap to enter donations each week, enter new donors, add and delete categories of giving, contact information and switch from this year to past years for comparative purposes. This week I wanted to send out quarterly statements to our contributors. Thanks to the Custom Report feature I was able to give our Treasurer the data she needed to help decide what information she wanted included in the letter and to whom it should be sent. Once that was decided, I modified one of the letter templates and literally within minutes the printer was buzzing. Add to that the low initial cost and the fantastic customer service, and this is a product that can't be topped for our medium-sized church.

This is the best software I've ever used for donations. Easy to use , produces great tax receipts and has great support from its producers .
Only negative is that it stands alone , no connection to my QuickBooks .

Our ministry has used the Donation software since 2000. We have been through the trials and errors of the developement and improvement. This has been a wonderful program for us and has saved us many hours and dollars when compared to some of the other programs out there. Mr. Cooperstock, the developer, is very prompt to answer questions or handle problems. We especially like the way it generates receipts, and while many organizations only generate them at the end of the year our ministry has always generated them each week. Overall we have been very happy with the program and would highly recommend it especially to smaller ministries.

DONATION Software is just what it says it is - very user friendly and tracks your donors and issues receipts. I had been looking for something that I would be able to simply be able to issue receipts and be able to use as a data base for my mailing list and DONATION did it.
I had a couple questions early on and needed some help in finding out what the problem was and boy did I get answers fast from the DONATION "help desk". I have never had such quick response from a "help desk" as I did from DONATION. It is simple to use and instructions are given in very simple terms, so that anyone could understand them.

Donation is the most affordable and functional software for churches or any non-profit organizations to keep track of donations. The software is so intuitive that any users with minimal computer knowledge can start using it without any instruction.

This excellent program has helped us saved tons of time and effort every week, and, when it is time to print out the donation receipts.

Customer service is top of the line as Dan, the programmer and owner, provide customized personal service at all time. He even let us knows when he is on vacation!

We tried several much more expensive programs. Donation meets our needs perfectly. It is very easy to use, very quick, doesn't crash like the others did. End of the year reports are a breeze.

There may be fancier interfaces out there, but you pay for the pretty colors in speed and stability. Donation loads quickly and we have never had it crash on us. This is our 3rd year tracking all of our giving. We make thousands of entries each year.

The customer service is personal and immediate. I cannot reccomend this program enough especially to churches.

We have been using Dan Cooperstock's product for some years now and we find it excellent for our church needs. If we need help with anything we can get it from him in less than an hour. We are satisfied with it.

We are a small church and have used Donations for at least 5 years and LOVE everyting about it. It is easy to use, quick and if we have question we get a flash response from a person with no run-around. We often transfer responsibility for the operating and updating and can easily and quickly show someone how to do updates. At year end we can be assured by the program that everything will be perfect including updates to Government requirements, etc. This is a great tool. The only regret is that we did not get it sooner. Sure beats manual system.

The Donation software is simple to use & when compared to some other programs I have used in the past, it is inexpensive.
I have been using this software for three or four years & have not had any serious problems. When a problem did occur, it was easily "fixed" by reading the manual or sending an email with my question. It was always responded to in just a couple of hours.
I recommend this software to everyone working with church offering accounting with the responsibility of tracking donations, & sending out year end contribution reports.

We love using Donation for our church tithes. The end of the year letters are worded just as CPA told me they should be. It's very simple to set up and use. Although we have had no problems with the software whatsoever, we have had great customer service with emails including updates that we needed to install. I just recently moved our program off an old computer that used Windows XP onto a new computer using Windows 8 with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The backup worked wonderfully! The pricing is exceptional also!
