The system is very easy to understand and navigate. I love how it mixes technical with modern.

There are not a lot of help resources or I wasn't able to quickly find it.

I really love how user friendly this is for Evaluators

There are a bunch of tabs on the side of the program that I don't know how to use. For Example... it takes me a ton of time to try and find how I change the abstract

It moved our scholarship application process online. Previously, it was hard copy documents mailed in.

It's too slow to load. We are not able to really use it for the kinds of application scoring we do. Not a lot of customization available.

Easy for applicants and very flexible to meet the needs of many programs.

It is not immediately intuitive how to set things up and navigate through the administrative platform.

I like that once familiar with Smarter Select, you're able to have the ease and stress-free experience of managing scholarships that are difficult to put in one place.

Nothing comes to mind at the moment. Smarter Select is top notch.

I like the logic components the most. I makes it easier to ask in depth questions. The calculation options allow us to ask questions that we normally would not receive an answer for.

I wish there was a way to send the feedback from evaluators back to the original "applicants". I wish we could pull the reports with more than 20 questions.

Customer support is excellent, and ongoing trainings/webinars and resource library are all helpful. Application design is mostly straightforward and intuitive. Built in logic (app rules) are pretty basic, but work well. One would be hard pressed to find a better solution for the money.

Would like to see more predefined fields and built in text formatting options. Currently one has to add html code (provided by the vendor) to bold or otherwise change how text is formatted. Finally, I could see us getting to a point where the app rules/logic don't meet our needs.

Integrating this product was easy- I like that on computer or mobile the forms work great. Especially with getting traction and attention through social media, forms are more apt to be open on mobile devices.

I wish that we could have more personalization options to customize forms to our company's branded fonts and colors.

The flexibility and numerous options for setting up various types of applications and scholarships

When exporting the data, I wish there was a way to automatically conduct mathematical averages of evaluators' scores to each evaluation questions. Also, it would be ideal to have an option to list each application by organization name rather than individual.

I appreciate all of the functionality of the software

I'm not impressed that it's not intuitive to use and requires a great deal of understanding in order to build forms.

Customizable, has recommender feature so recs can come through the same system (which is missing from competitors), and easy to export information

UI isn't always clear, so I spend a lot of time playing customer support rep with applicants.

SmarterSelect is very easy to use and the customer support is exceptional. Our organization has been using SmarterSelect for several years and the software continues to get better. I like that they continue to improve the software. I also like they make it a point to train their customers on their new features and upgrades.

There is not much that I do not like about the software. There are some back-end reporting things that I find cumbersome such as when a parent/guardian creates an application for their son or daughter that person's name appears on the reports first not the actual applicant's​ name. This poses a challenge when you are looking up applications by the applicant's name. Another issue with this is the recommender receives an email that does not say the actual applicant's name. The recommender does not see the name of the actual applicant until he​ or she opens the email.

For example, if I create an account and start an application for my son Anthony, the recommender would receive an email that says Alex Rivera has requested that you submit a recommendation for the Achieve Scholarship. It is not until the email is opened that the recommender sees that Anthony is the actual person applying for the scholarship. This is often confusing for the recommenders.

The few things I like best about SmarterSelect is the ability to create, link and launch applications easily, manage multiple programs with various deadlines throughout the year, and the capability to bulk email applicants, evaluators and recommendations with a just a couple clicks. What use to take a week to organize with paper applications now takes half a day.

Every once is awhile there is a bug that needs fixing, but Customer Service quickly identifies issues and fixes them without delay.

Using SmarterSelect, we are able to easily manage 15+ separate scholarship opportunities. The common application feature allows our students to apply for multiple awards with one application (they are still required to complete a separate essay for each scholarship) eliminating extensive repetition of demographic information and extracurricular participation.

In addition, all of our reviewers are able to complete their assignments online at their convenience.

I really haven't found there to be anything that I am unhappy with.

easy to use, amazing customer service for questions with quick replies. applicants and reviewers had no trouble whatsoever and that's extremely important to us.

everything is great but creating "groupings" of applicants can be complicated because they can't be edited- makes for repeat groupings/views.

The ease of use and when I need help, help is available within seconds.

What I like least is that when my reviewers get done reviewing the applications, there is NOT a notification to me, so I know to go back in and read the reviews and take the time to keep checking in to see if all the reviews are done.

App Rules and external recommendations are pretty easy to navigate. The scoring system is complex but worth it! Will save soooooo much time moving forward.

If you use the internal messaging function (including texting) there is no record to look back on. Huge flaw IMO.
